Showered and Nesting

I have yet to blog about my amazing baby showers!! I was blessed to have not just one, but two! One in my hometown - Reno, NV and another in Provo, UT - my home for the last 4 1/2 years. (It's crazy how time flies.)

Julie Smith and my mom put together a beautiful shower for me. I loved the clothesline out front to tell everyone where the party was being held. Riley even got out of class to celebrate with me! :) She was such a great helper. I love how sweet and excited she is for this baby. It was wonderful to see and visit with so many friends and leaders from my original home ward.
The beautiful table set with brunch for the guests.
The cookies and cupcakes, made by Jennifer Martin, were absolutely adorable. Once you got over the shock factor of their beauty and not wanting to harm them, they were quite delicious as well. I hear Jennifer is working on getting a business going. . . if you live in the area I'd be glad to pass her info on to you if you would like her services. :)
The white cupcakes were filled with a raspberry filling, and the chocolate with a marshmallow filling. Yum. :)
My mom made this mobile as a decoration for the party, and a gift for the baby. I love it. I think is so unique and cute! I can't wait to hang it up! I have to wait until my mom comes up to help with the baby after he's born though. (I didn't want to pack it in my very full suitcase and risk squishing any of the stars.)
My other shower in Provo was so fun! My freshman roommate, Heather Jacobs, threw it for me. (She is pictured with me below - roommate twinners at a BYU football game Freshman year together.) I had many dear friends from over the last 4 years and family members from Squire's and my side come. I have a few pictures (courtesy of Grandma Tripp!) that I am having trouble getting off my phone but will upload as soon as I can. (How lame is it that I forgot my camera? I'm still sad about that.)
But, here is a picture of the advice I received during the shower. I read it throughout the present opening time. There was such good advice! Also, the egg casserole Heather made for the shower was soooo good. (I've requested the recipe - let's keep our fingers crossed it isn't a family secret - if not, I'll post it soon too.) ;)I'm blogging about my showers and my nesting together because having my showers gave me things to prepare! I'm just about finished with my "Things to Get Done Before Baby is Born, List."

After my showers, I went through all of Small's clothes, blankets, burp rags, sheets, etc. and washed them all. They are folded and put away either in baby's little cart:
Or in bins, if they are larger sizes. Let me tell you, our little boy is going to be STYLIN' - whether Squire likes it or not! ;)
His little Co-Sleeper is ready - it just needs to be pushed up next to the bed. I'm waiting on that 'till our little guy comes when I hopefully have more mobility and a less frequent urge to pee in the middle of the night than I do now. The car seat is installed, I'm pre-registered at the hospital, my birth plan is typed up. I'm still working on the finishing touches of preparation (like packing my hospital bag) but I feel pretty comfortable that we are ready for our son to arrive any day now! He has a place to sleep, a car seat to come home from the hospital in, and clothes to wear!

Thank you to everyone for your generosity!! We wouldn't be feeling so ready without all your love and gifts! :)

And, really he could come any time now. My belly has dropped. I feel like I'm walking around with a bowling ball in between my legs all the time and the sciatic pain is pretty difficult to deal with at work - but only about a week and half and I'll be done working! I'm 80% effaced and 1 cm. dilated. This picture was taken at 36 weeks and 4 days.
More to come soon.

  1. I love that you're all ready. I was not ready for Rex and refused to get ready because I was in denile. We bought a carseat about 2 days before he was born and only because we knew he was getting induced--I thought that if I refused to get ready then Rex would hold out...whatevers. Good luck in the next week!

  2. I agree with Heather! I am absolutely amazed at your readiness. I was only ready with Miles because we had everything from Max. With Miles we didn't pack the hospital bag until a couple days before I went into labor--about a week before I was due.

  3. What a beautiful shower, but I'm not surprised! Cool stars, Judy! I love the nesting stage. It's such a fun time to look at all the baby things and imagine what your little bundle will be like. Happy end-of-pregnancy!
