Getting pumped for the MCAT

Squire will be taking his MCAT at 1:00pm TODAY!! He woke up around 5:30am and took a shower. He has been reviewing his notes all morning, and coming in our bedroom every so often, to pace around the bed with his nervous energy. He is like a cross between a six year old child at Christmas Eve/early morning and someone going off to war. We had to do the laundry last night so he could wear his favorite pair of jeans and his favorite hoody today, because he gets cold when he's nervous. Our Bishop in our married student ward gave Squire a priesthood blessing last night to help him feel calm. To help him get ready this morning, I made him his favorite breakfast - Biscuits and Gravy, and a fruit smoothie. I have never seen that boy not eat seconds, but he didn't this morning. He's too nervous, he said.  He also listened to the classic from Mulan, "I'll make a man out of you", (watch the movie at the link, it will seriously make your day.) sung by our favorite Mormon superstar - Donny Osmond. He's hoping the song can help him be a man as:

"Tranquil as a forest, but a fire within",
"swift as the coursing river
with all the force of a great typhoon",
"With all the strength of a raging fire," and
"Mysterious as the dark side of the moon". ; )

The little number he'll get for that test today will determine a lot for our future! It will determine what schools he will apply to, how many he will apply to, which ones he will be accepted at, whether or not he'll get scholarships, etc. It also represents several years of learning from classes at BYU, hundreds of hours of studying - especially this last month, and hundreds of dollars spent on test prep materials and just registering to take the test. He took a break from work for a month, and from classes this Spring, and just studied every day for about 10 hours. (With the exception of our short camping excursion to Maple Lake.)

Even with all that is at stake - I feel great about today. I think Squire is going to rock his test. I know he'll get in to med school. Everything is going to work out the way it should. I'm proud of my man, for wanting to do the very best he can for our family. Wish him luck! : )
